What would you do if you weren't afraid?

This past Spring semester, I had to read an extract from the book "Who Moved My Cheese?" in class. In general, I think it's a pretty interesting book, but the one question that struck me the most is, "What would you do if you weren't afraid?" Once I read that question, I wrote it down on a sticky note and stuck it on the wall right above my desk... thinking what I will do if I am not scared of anything.

So now I've been thinking about it for a while, what will I do? Bungee jump? Sky dive? Or some random extreme sport that I know I will never even dare to think about of doing? At one point, when my sister went out of town for a night and I had to stay home by myself, I thought, maybe staying in a dark haunted house by myself for a night is far more scary that doing extreme sports. Haha. Yes, very random thoughts.

However, when I think about it more and more, I think for me, preaching the gospel is the scariest thing of all. If I weren't afraid, I would preach the gospel more. Why? Yes, why? Outwardly when you see someone doing it, it seems so easy. Especially here, people are so nice that they'll even reject you nicely. What is there to be afraid of? Well, till now, I'm not absolutely sure why I feel like that, maybe it's just the enemy lying to me. Trying to stop me from preaching the gospel! O Lord Jesus strengthen me! Help me to preach the gospel, don't let the enemy lie to me and make me scared to preach the gospel. You are the Most High God, when I'm with You, there is nothing to be afraid of!

So, what about you? What would you do if you weren't afraid?

  1. Wow, that's awesome! That's right, when you think about it actually in preaching the gospel, we have nothing really to lose. After all, the Lord is the One responsible to save these ones we talked to.

  2. So true! It's really funny how we may have something to tell someone that may change their life, but it's seems so hard to open our mouths. Lord, strengthen us to speak You to others! :)

  3. Amen to this post and to the comments. If I wasn't afraid, I'd probably choose the same thing as you.. preaching the gospel!

But.. it is not about trying to overcome our fear by pep talks or anything like that.. but when we spend time with the Lord just to love Him and enjoy Him.. somehow He spontaneously bubbles over! :)
